Macadamia Nut Oil

Description

Macadamia Nut Oil contains Oleic Acid (Omega 9), which is suitable for dry skin. Macadamia Nut Oil also contains Palmitoleic acid (Omega 7) which has a similar composition to sebum, the oil naturally produced by the skin. The Palmitoleic Acid supply in our skin depletes as we get older so using Macadamia Oil can help boost the levels of this essential fatty acid. Palmitoleic Acid is an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals, making this oil an ideal choice for mature skin.

Macadamia Oil is a very moisturising oil making it great for those with dry skin. It penetrates the top layer of skin very quickly, so ideal for those wanting a facial oil that doesn’t sit on the skin for a long time.

Macadamia Oil is an excellent emollient, it is easily absorbed by the skin without feeling greasy. It can help lock moisture in, keeping skin hydrated and nourished.

Macadamia Oil is a great oil for haircare, those fatty acids help to add shine, and nourishment to the hair. The oil coats the hair strands, repelling moisture and preventing frizz. It can be used as a conditioning hair treatment or applied before styling to smooth the hair and add shine.

All vegetable oils and fats are 100% fat and are generally high in calories (on average about 120 calories per tablespoon). Vegetable oils are often used in food preparation for salad dressings, cooking, frying, baking, sauces and marinades. As a general guide, virgin and unrefined oils have more of the oil’s natural flavour and lend themselves well for use in cold dishes. Refined oils generally have longer shelf lives and may have a higher smoke point and therefore be better for high heat cooking, but this varies depending on the type of oil. Each oil has its own distinct flavour and nutrient and Fatty Acid composition, so each oil may be used for different purposes depending on your need.

Certified cruelty free and vegan friendly.

How to Use

Massage

Macadamia Nut Oil can be used as a substitute for Almond Sweet or Grapeseed Oil for massage as it is easily absorbed by the skin without leaving it greasy.

Skincare

This oil is great for skincare, use on its own or can be used to make your own skincare formulations. Create a soothing and moisturising facial serum by combining 50ml of Macadamia Nut Oil with 0.5ml (approx. 10 drops) of Lavender Essential Oil (#102) and massage a few drops into your face and neck.

Haircare

Combine 100ml of Macadamia Nut Oil with 0.25ml (approx. 5 drops) of Tea Tree (#109) and 0.25ml (approx. 5 drops) Chamomile Oil (#134) for a deep repair mask. Massage a small amount into your hair and scalp and leave to work for around 30 minutes. Wash as normal. Top tip – begin to lather your shampoo before adding water to help emulsify the oil which will allow it to rinse out easier.

Beauty Hack

Use Macadamia Nut Oil as a natural alternative to shaving foam. It will help the razor glide over the skin and help prevent razor burn, whilst smoothing and moisturising the skin.

As with any new product always conduct a patch test before first use.

Food Use

Spruce up your dishes by adding some oil to your cuisine. This versatile oil can be used in salad dressings, smoothies, pasta dishes, a dip for bread, drizzled over grilled fish or meat, roasted vegetables and many more. It adds flavour and richness.
