Sesame Oil

Description

Sesame Oil contains vitamins A, B complex and E and a number of natural antioxidants thought to help to combat the formation of free radicals and prevent skin damage making it ideal for mature skin.

It contains Linoleic, Oleic and Palmitic Acid, which are natural essential fatty acids that your skin needs to stay healthy, making this oil great for those with oily, dry, or blemished skin. Sesame Oil is highly lubricating and will leave your skin feeling hydrated and silky smooth and will form a protective barrier against environmental elements.

All vegetable oils and fats are 100% fat and are generally high in calories (on average about 120 calories per tablespoon). Vegetable oils are often used in food preparation for salad dressings, cooking, frying, baking, sauces and marinades. As a general guide, virgin and unrefined oils have more of the oil’s natural flavour and lend themselves well for use in cold dishes. Refined oils generally have longer shelf lives and may have a higher smoke point and therefore be better for high heat cooking, but this varies depending on the type of oil. Each oil has its own distinct flavour and nutrient and Fatty Acid composition, so each oil may be used for different purposes depending on your need.

Certified cruelty free and vegan friendly.

How to Use

Massage

Sesame Oil is a good oil for massage as it penetrates deeply into the skin at a medium pace. We recommend that you blend Sesame Oil with another carrier oil such as Sweet Almond (#215) or Grapeseed (#210) as Sesame is quite viscous. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oils for added benefits.

Skincare

Can be used as a gentle and effective cleanser and make-up remover. Combine with Lavender Oil (#102) to make your own night serum to wake up with fresh, glowing skin.

Haircare

Sesame Oil can be beneficial for your hair too. Feed your hair with a homemade, shine boosting hair mask. Combine a few drops of Sesame with Coconut Oil (#203) and Rosemary Essential Oil (#108), massage into your hair and scalp, leave on for an hour, then wash as normal. Top tip – add your shampoo to dry hair. Begin to massage into your hair before adding water, as this will help emulsify the oil and will rinse out easier.

As with any new product always conduct a patch test before first use.

Food Use

Spruce up your dishes by adding some oil to your cuisine. This versatile oil can be used in salad dressings, smoothies, pasta dishes, a dip for bread, drizzled over grilled fish or meat, roasted vegetables and many more. It adds flavour and richness.
